( click on picture for an extreme close up. )Ancient Anasazi hide scraper. The scraper has a curvature shape design on the bottom scraping side for the hide which was placed on a out cropping rock. With the hides under side up, the hide locked firmly on to the rock so it wouldn't slide. Pressure from this tool with a side scraping motion prepared the hide for tanning by removing the membrane tissue.
